Puerta de Oro de Colombia
WHO WE ARE
We are Puerta de Oro de Colombia (The Golden Gate of Colombia), a folk dance group composed by enthusiastic Latinos living in South Florida wanting to show the richness of Colombia’s folklore.
OUR MISSION
Since 2008, we are working on the mission " Rompiendo Fronteras” (breaking boundaries) because we want to prove that there are no geographical or personal barriers to show with honor, a culture and its traditions.
CARNIVAL OF BARRANQUILLA
We have emphasized in the folklore of the northern coast of Colombia especially in the Carnival of Barranquilla. It was proclaimed by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Also, to show the mixture of races, which is the perfect example of our Hispanic Heritage.
HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION
We continuously participate in the celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month, giving the opportunity to the residents of South Florida to appreciate the extensive cultural and folkloric diversity.
Within our events and activities, we include the Miami-Dade Public Libraries workshops where the audience can learn the history of the most famous folk dances like the Cumbia, in addition to the distinctive characters of Carnival of Barranquilla and their participation in the history. Furthermore, we create an interactive engagement with the audience to practice our dances and play the traditional instruments of this Colombian region.
THE AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE
We can provide an authentic experience of the Colombian Hispanic Heritage. We are a group with almost ten years or existence, licensed and insured. Our shows provide an interactive participation of the real music, dances, and representation of our roots.
