Autism Arena CIC
Helping families of autistic children navigate health & social care, education and leisure. We are a team consisting of a former GP, social worker and a teacher (SENCo) who are all parent carers, and understand the systems and want to make your journey easier. We want to provide easy to use information that is specific to individual children, and consider each child holistically.
We are bringing Peer Support Sessions and Educational Events so that parent carers can support their child's needs whilst awaiting appointments. We want to get things right for children as soon as possible to help them reach their potential and reduce the incidence of a co-occurring mental health condition.
In addition to helping support each child, we wish to reduce the isolation and loneliness that parent carers of autistic & neurodivergent can experience. We understand how challenging it can be when children are unable to play or socialise in the same way as their peers, and from a carer perspective, this makes it more difficult to build connections and an understanding support network. We understand that experiences of childhood are not mainstream. By holding peer support events we wish to reduce the barriers for parent carers to feel part of a supportive community. Our on-line peer support events are aimed to be more accessible to a wider range of parent carers.
We want to help parent carers understand autism and neurodiversity better, empower them to be more confident advocates for their child and have a positive impact on family time and family support. We want to support the wellbeing of parent carers and reduce carer fatigue. In creating better understanding, we hope for a more inclusive society that welcomes diversity and recognises the positive impacts that has on a child’s life chances, mental health, the economy and community.
