Chisom Winifred
Chisom Winifred is a Nigerian writer, editor, and creative practitioner whose work explores identity, culture, feminism, and the tension between tradition and modernity. Her short story Igbachi Nkiti, published in The Kalahari Review, was developed as part of her postgraduate dissertation examining domestic violence and feminist resistance in Africa. Her writing and criticism have also appeared in Brittle Paper and The Lincoln Review. In 2025, she won the Fosseway Writers Flash Fiction Competition for her short story Children With No Angels.
Alongside her creative practice, Chisom has over five years’ experience as a copy and content writer, producing editorial and thought-leadership work for multinational brands including MTV Base, MTN, Access Bank, Fidelity Bank, Amstel Malta, and others. She previously served as Beauty Editor at Glam Africa Magazine, a quarterly print publication with a global readership of over 1.5 million.
She is the founder and organiser of The Creative Writing Workshop, where she brings together writers, editors, and publishing professionals from across Africa and the diaspora to support emerging writers in building sustainable, globally visible careers.
