James began studying music at age eleven privately at Grant's Drum City in Irving, TX and moved into symphonic band at North Richland Junior Hight where he served as band president.

He has worked with several professional Texas talent agencies such as Golden Productions, Greater Southwest Management, Amercian Bands, and Biggtime Entertainment.

He has appeared in Modern Drummer Magazine three times and was featured worldwide on media outlets such as IHeart Media.

In 2001,James was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease caused by mercury toxicity from eleven amalgam fillings he received as a pre teen. In 2003, emergency hemodialysis was required to sustain James' life. During this time, his ability to work and travel was greatly compromised so he partnered with Help Hope Live, an established 35 year non profit organization in May 2014.
Help Hope Live assists individuals in raising funds to defray the enormous medical costs associated with receiving an organ donation.
They also help those who face catastrophic illness.
He chartered a personal campaign as a self employeed musician to raise funds and bring awareness to the paramount issue of the connection between mercury toxicty and end stage renal disease.
Subsequently, James produced live events such as concerts and book signings that created $40,000 in revenue that covered his out of pocket expense of a $250,000 living donor kidney transplant.
He has worked with venues such as Chick-fil-A, Gas Monkey Dallas, Hard Rock Cafe, & House of Blues.
n December 9, 2015,James' life changed forever.
Today, James celebrates his 3 year "Kidneyversary" in Bedford, Texas with his lovely wife Angel Eyes Kristen McLester, and their Minature pincher "Saylor MC- Amabassador of Peace".
They are blessed to have adult children Dustin & Kallan Daniel, and Kendall Perkins.
2019 will mark the 5 year anniversary of James' partnership with Help Hope Live.
Several Events such as concerts, dinners, & a Golf Tournament are in the works for 2019.
In 2020, James Michael Music will partner with Jim Long of ANCTV, David Long Graphics, Nick Duva of DV8 Theater and begin packaging professional sizzle reels for artists. We will also Go streaming LIVE around the Globe.
On April 15, 2020 James Michael Music filed in the Texas' Secretary of State office for the LLC Syndiacte-360 to broadcast content around the Globe. We will utilize the top professionals in each field of visual arts to deliver 2020 content in the spirit of days gone by.
