Refuge Ranch Inc.
Refuge Ranch is a beautiful horse ranch located in central Illinois, just southeast of the state capitol, Springfield. At Refuge, our prayer is that hurting people will find hope, safety, and healing through the unconditional love of Jesus. Children need a place to run, play, make noise, and simply be kids. Adults are longing for a place of rest and reprieve from busy schedules and chaotic lives. The truth is, we are all looking for Refuge!
Founded in 2008, Refuge began as an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization, serving a handful of children who needed a safe place to find connection and community. Today, Refuge is a thriving ministry, serving hundreds of children and families each year. Through equine-assisted mentoring, adaptive riding, and partnerships with low-income District 186 schools, local churches, and other like-hearted community organizations, we are making a huge impact in the lives of under-served, at-risk and special needs families in Central Illinois!
Each year, Refuge Ranch walks with families who are facing extensive trauma and painful life circumstances. We consider it an extraordinary privilege to join them on their journey toward hope and healing. Here, God uses the beauty of His creation, the redemptive power of service, the connection of equine assisted mentoring and experiential learning, and the gift of Christ-centered community to heal, restore and redeem the stories of courageous children and families.
While the challenges our participants face are daunting, Refuge Ranch has a proven track record over the last 17 years of coming alongside hurting families in our community. Because our solutions are long-term, relational, and intensive, we have seen overwhelming healing and growth for children and families who have not been helped by traditional interventions.
